Prof. H.K. Dass, a distinguished mathematician and educator, received a British Scholarship in 1971-72 for specialist study in advanced mathematics at the University of Hull, England. He holds a first division M.Sc. in Mathematics and was the college topper. For over 35 years, Prof. Dass has been a popular faculty member, teaching mathematics to engineering students. His reputation as an author extends across India and neighboring countries, with his works gaining widespread acclaim.
Prof. Dass has authored 20 books on engineering mathematics and school-level mathematics, which are well-regarded among students and educators in India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, East Asia, and African countries. His books for engineering mathematics were particularly successful, prompting his publisher to encourage him to write for the school curriculum. Consequently, his mathematics books for classes IX, X, XI, and XII have become favorites among the academic community, with "Mathematics for Class X" receiving special recognition as the best among available options.
Prof. Dass has been honored as a Distinguished Author by his publishing company. His contributions to education have also led to his appointment as a member of the Governing Body of Shyam Lal College by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Delhi. In recognition of his efforts to promote secularism and harmony, Prof. Dass was awarded the Secular India Harmony Award in 1998, presented by the then Prime Minister, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, in 1999.
